Rabies found in raccoon near Meadow Ponds Golf Course off W.Va. 7

A raccoon near the old Meadow Ponds Golf Course off W.Va. 7 has tested positive for rabies, a viral disease that affects mammals and is almost always fatal. Area residents are urged to make sure animals are up to date on the rabies vaccine and, if possible, to keep them inside for now. Anyone who sees a mammal acting erratically should call 304-598-5131 during the day. The after-hours number, for emergencies only, is 304-680-4357.
