Environmental Health helps protect the health of the citizens of Monongalia County by permitting and inspecting housing and institutions in Monongalia County. This includes hotels and motels, child care centers, manufactured home communities (aka mobile home parks), adult care facilities, non-emergency shelters and schools.
Each institution that is new, being renovated or has a change of ownership must go through the plan review process before scheduling an appointment with a sanitarian.
These facilities are inspected every six months except for school buildings, which are inspected every two years.
